The company, which operates in the Nordic countries, Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Sweden, and beyond, has several key business segments. The Generation segment utilises nuclear, hydro, wind, and thermal resources to generate power, whilst also providing power portfolio optimisation, trading, and industrial intelligence, alongside nuclear services. Meanwhile, its City Solutions unit is focused on developing solutions in the areas of heating, cooling, and waste-to-energy, along with biomass and solar power production. In addition, Fortum's Consumer Solutions segment is engaged in electricity and gas retail businesses, providing invoicing and customer services to around 2.2 million customers, as well as electricity and related value-added products, and digital services. The company's Russian segment generates and sells power and heat, with the Uniper segment engaging in power generation, energy trading, and optimisation activities.
