Idaho-based IDACORP, Inc. and its subsidiaries are a key player in the American electric energy industry, with a diverse portfolio of businesses. Generating, transmitting, distributing, purchasing and selling electric energy, IDACORP operates 17 hydropower generating plants in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon, as well as three natural gas-fired plants in the south of the state, and it holds interests in two coal-fired steam electric generating plants located in Wyoming and Nevada. The company's extensive infrastructure includes 4,832 pole-miles of high-voltage transmission lines, 23 step-up transmission substations located at power plants, 21 transmission substations, 11 switching stations, 30 mixed-use transmission and distribution substations, 189 energized distribution substations and 29,384 pole-miles of distribution lines. IDACORP provides electric utility services to around 618,000 retail customers in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon, including commercial and industrial customers whose businesses operate in the fields of food processing, electronics and general manufacturing, agriculture, health care, government and education.
