Senvest Capital, a Montreal-based holding company with interests in investment management and direct investing in public securities and private investments, has been a publicly traded company since 1972 and is currently listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. The company was initially founded as the exclusive Canadian licensee and distributor for US-based Sensormatic Electronics, which was a pioneer in anti-theft-at-retail electronic security systems. In addition, Senvest Capital also developed and operated one of Canada's first cable pay-TV channels, First Choice, which it later sold to Astral Media.
